America’s water utilities are embracing artificial intelligence to tackle a costly underground crisis: failing pipelines. VODA.ai, a rising leader in water analytics, secured major backing from CRH Ventures on June 10, 2025, setting the stage for a nationwide shift in infrastructure management.

The funding comes as cities confront aging networks, with thousands of miles of pipeline approaching failure. VODA.ai offers a timely solution, using AI to predict which pipes are most at risk, helping utilities prevent disruptive and expensive main breaks.

This signals more than just technological progress. By combining digital maps, maintenance histories, and environmental data, VODA.ai’s platform identifies vulnerabilities with pinpoint accuracy. Cities can prioritize repairs, cut down on emergency responses, and avoid unnecessary pipe replacements.

Since June 2024, VODA.ai has also partnered with utility technology leader Itron, integrating real-time water usage data with predictive analytics. This collaboration allows utilities to shift from reactive maintenance to proactive strategies. “Our mission is to empower utilities to stay ahead of failures,” said a CRH Ventures spokesperson, emphasizing rising demand for AI tools that boost reliability and control costs.

The growing adoption of AI reflects a broader digital transformation in the water sector. Once slow to modernize, utilities are now turning to smart technologies to meet rising service demands while managing tight budgets. Industry experts predict predictive maintenance will become standard practice nationwide.

Hurdles remain. Many older utilities still grapple with incomplete records and outdated infrastructure, while cybersecurity concerns continue to rise. Yet momentum is unmistakable.

Armed with fresh investment and established technology partnerships, VODA.ai is leading a shift toward smarter, more efficient water management. Across the country, utilities are realizing that predictive AI is no longer a distant goal. It is reshaping operations today.
